Our Team

Our Team

Not only the content and approach of the D-DEC courses are unique; the composition of the team is also special and largely responsible for the success of the organization. Like three puzzle pieces, each with their own talents and qualities, Mark, Peter and Tineke complement each other seamlessly and form a complementary trinity. We are talking about the three founders of D-DEC. Three passionate people from Drenthe who have bundled their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm and offer students a unique experience to work towards their common goal: sharing knowledge and raising the profession to a higher level together.

D-DEC has now become more than these three founders. The team has been expanded with other experts who add their own specialties and energy. Our permanent team members; Jim Buschman, Henk-Jan van den Heuvel and Vincent Colenbrander, who contribute to the strength of our courses with their professional knowledge and practical experience. In addition, D-DEC works with guest lecturers such as the renowned Emanuel Melinotti, Alex van Etten and Raphael Henderix who inspire students with their unique expertise.

We are proud of the diverse team that forms the base of D-DEC. Each person brings his or her own qualities and vision, which allows us to continue to grow together and offer our students a learning experience that goes beyond knowledge transfer. We are happy to introduce our team to you, so that you can see who works behind the scenes to make your learning process as valuable as possible.

About Tineke

Tineke was born and raised in Zwartemeer, a small village in South-East Drenthe, on the border with Germany. As a farmer's daughter, she learned early on the value of hard work, perseverance and taking responsibility - qualities that shaped her career as a dental technician and dental prosthetist.

At the age of 17, she started her career in a dental laboratory in Coevorden, where she received a broad all-round education under the guidance of her mentor Wally Kempees. In the same year, 2001, she immediately started her training as a dental technician at the Institute for Dental Technology Training. In 2005, she obtained her diploma, during which she was awarded the title: best all-rounder. Driven by her love for the profession, Tineke specialized in both crown and bridge work and in prosthetics. She completed her training at the end of 2007 and continued her studies at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, where she started the Dental Prosthetics training.

During her studies, Tineke moved from Drenthe to Brabant. Not only did her professional environment change, but this sporty woman also had to adapt on a sporting level. For many years, Tineke was part of the women's 1 selection of her beloved handball club Hurry-up and had to leave her familiar team behind due to her move. Fortunately, she found a new challenge in Brabant at the handball club in Mill, where she joined the women's selection. In Uden, Tineke started working at Centrum voor Mondzorg. Here she expanded her knowledge with clinical work. In 2011, Tineke graduated as a Dental Prosthetist and immediately became a teacher at the Dental Prosthetics course, where she taught at the clinic for over 8 years, helped rewrite the entire curriculum and was part of the examination committee.

In 2012, Tineke started her own practice, Germs Tandprothetiek, and moved to Apeldoorn where she lives with her husband and 2 children. Due to increasing workload, she had to let go of her sporting ambitions. Her passion for education remained. Tineke continued to dedicate herself to education and knowledge sharing. In 2012, she developed the 9-day prosthetics course together with Peter van der Pal, in which students were intensively trained in the profession. Mark Veenstra later joined and together they founded the Dutch Dental Education Center in 2023.

Tineke is a driven professional with boundless ambition, known for her loyalty, transparency and dedication. Quality and mastery are always her top priorities, both in her work and in her role as an expert. With her extensive knowledge, experience and passion for the profession, she is an essential force within D-DEC.

About Henk-Jan

It is clear that Henk-Jan is versatile. His career started as a pastry chef, after which he became a professional soldier with the Royal Military Police. Eventually, life brought him to dental technology, where he fully developed his talents for precision and discipline and he followed in his father's footsteps and is committed 100% to the family business.

Tandtechnisch Centrum Midden Holland is a family business like no other, because in addition to Henk-Jan and his father, his mother, brother Johan, nephew Sven and his indispensable wife Lonneke also work there. In addition to the Van den Heuvel family, there are also 4 fellow dental technicians who have now been adopted into the family. In addition to the laboratory, Henk-Jan also runs his own dental prosthetics practice with great passion.

When digital dental technology was introduced, it soon became clear that this was tailor-made for Henk-Jan. For him, digitalisation is a valuable addition to the profession, provided that it actually means an improvement of the analogue working method. Clicking with the mouse is not enough, the traditional craftsmanship also remains popular and, as far as he is concerned, is the basis for all the beautiful things that are digitally possible.

With 25 years of experience in dental technology, Henk-Jan has not only earned his spurs in the Netherlands, but also internationally, as a speaker in countries such as Iceland, Chicago and Atlanta. His expertise, passion and enthusiasm make him an important asset to the D-DEC team.

In addition to his impressive career, Henk-Jan is a proud husband of Lonneke and father of 2 beautiful daughters: Annabel (18) and Jojanneke (18). In his spare time, he enjoys doing odd jobs in and around the house and likes to throw himself into anything that uses petrol. After 9 years as a teacher at the Dental Prosthetics course in Utrecht, Henk-Jan now gives space to his hobbies, while he continues to use his knowledge and experience within the D-DEC team.

About Alex

At D-DEC, we are proud of our team of specialists, and we are therefore delighted to introduce Alex van Etten to you as our newest expert in the field of digital prosthetic designs.

Alex entered the dental technology field at the age of 18. He quickly followed the training at the I.V.T., specializing in removable appliances in his final year. Like many others, he started in the plaster department, but at the age of 19 he switched to the prosthetic department, a field that immediately fascinated him.

After no less than 24 years of experience as a dental technician, Alex made the switch to the digital world. As a digital product specialist at Arseus, he immersed himself in Exocad and later in 3Shape. Thanks to numerous courses and practical experience, he also fully mastered the finer points of milling machines and 3D printers. In this role, he helped many dental technicians, including our own Henk-Jan and Tineke, with their first steps in the digital world.

In addition to his work at Arseus, Alex enjoyed teaching at the Dutch HealthTec Academy and the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, where he enthusiastically shared his knowledge. In 2020, he started working at Ivoclar, where he became responsible for the digital branch. Here, he discovered the increasing demand for support in designing digital prostheses, especially among dental technicians with a busy schedule.

Alex decided to dive into that gap and started his own business in mid-2024. He now successfully runs his own company, Alex Dentaldesigns, focused on full denture designs. Alex still regularly gives training courses in the field of digital prosthesis designs.

In addition to his work, Alex is a real family man. He lives with his partner Linda in Huizen and is the proud father of two beautiful daughters. In his spare time, Alex regularly exercises to be fit and focused behind the screen.

With his boundless enthusiasm, broad practical experience and in-depth digital knowledge, Alex is a valuable addition to D-DEC. We look forward to further shaping the digital future of the dental industry together with him!

About Emanuel

Emanuel Melinotti, a renowned specialist in precision anchoring and a warm personality who masters the profession like no other. Emanuel, born in beautiful Sardinia, has lived in Belgium all his life. He has been married to his great love for almost 25 years and is the proud father of two wonderful children.

After studying Dental Technical Sciences, Emanuel was given the opportunity to start his career at the prestigious dental laboratory "Brandau". Here he specialized in milling technology and implant work. Later, he gained valuable practical experience in the Netherlands at "Boelen Tandtechniek", a laboratory linked to the Centrum Bijzondere Tandheelkunde. With the support of his colleagues and his passion for the profession, Emanuel eventually set up his own specialized laboratory in Belgium. After 18 successful years, he passed the baton to his colleagues, in order to then focus on other challenges that presented themselves. With the years of experience that Emanuel had built up in the implant world (including founder of Neodental Implants), he started a new adventure in 2017 as Area Manager Europe at Ceka Preci-Line and India, a country that is close to his heart as he was able to show and teach all his knowledge of traditional milling techniques for complicated removable prosthetics using attachments and milled structures at various universities.

In addition to his passion for dental technology, Emanuel has a deep love for the organ. He has been playing with great dedication since he was 11 and has won several national competitions. He even founded an organ school and has given organ lessons. Even now, Emanuel is inseparably connected to his beloved Wersi organ.

During holidays, Emanuel likes to travel with his family to the most beautiful beaches in Europe, which he naturally finds in his native Sardinia. There he combines family visits with relaxation on the beach.

At D-DEC we are very proud to be able to work with Emanuel and use his expertise and enthusiasm to help our students move forward.

About Rico

Rico Koers is an expert in the field of special pathology and gnathology. Rico started his training as a dental technician at the Institute for Dental Technology Training in Utrecht in 1978. After his first work experience at a dental laboratory in 's-Hertogenbosch, Rico switched to a dental partnership with its own laboratory after 5 years. The complete independence and responsibility appealed to him and in 1986 he started his own practice where he completed his training as a dental prosthetist in 1993.

His interest in special pathology led to collaboration with the department of oral surgery of the Jeroen Bosch Hospital and Rico was privileged to be able to do an internship with Prof. Dr. Isaac van der Waal. A guru in the field of special pathology. In addition, Rico was active 1 day a week at the Center for Special Dentistry, where he treated complex cases. Over the years, Rico was able to record a great deal of case history. Rico also managed to delve into gnathology himself.

In the 1990s, Rico developed teaching materials based on his practical experience and was even allowed to teach at the dental prosthetics training course in Utrecht. He currently provides additional and refresher training for dental prosthetists for SNTI, among others. His goal is to share knowledge in oral care and inspire others.

7-3-2026: Recently, Rico decided, due to personal circumstances, to immediately stop his work related to giving courses. It was not an easy or impulsive decision, as he greatly enjoyed it, but a necessary, well-considered decision. Recently, Rico has resumed working at the dental prosthetics program at HU, and he will remain active there for the time being. We have always greatly valued our collaboration with Rico. With his enthusiasm and expertise, he has provided excellent and valuable courses that many participants fondly remember. We wish Rico all the best.

About Raphael

Raphael Henderix is an expert when it comes to the Gerber setup. Many of you know Raphael as the face of Candulor, where he has been working since 2012. Initially in the role of Manager Technical Support, and now for quite some time as Country Manager Benelux.

Raphael obtained his dental technology diploma through a day program at the Anneessens-Funck Institute. After his dental technology training, he gained experience in a praxis lab in southern Germany. This experience proved very useful when he was appointed to the dental laboratory at the University of Leuven. There, he was responsible for the removable prosthetics department. Through his close collaboration with professors and specialists, his passion for removable prosthetics developed. The lack of his anatomical and physiological knowledge prompted further education. After a three-year course, he earned his Denturist diploma at the Institute for Dental Prosthetics. For more than ten years, he has shared the knowledge he gained as a teacher with eager students. In the practical lessons, patients were treated with passion and the best care.

After running his own lab and dental practice for 25 years, it was time for a new challenge. The choice for Candulor AG, the Swiss prosthetics specialist, was the next logical step. There, he seized the opportunity to further delve into the Gerber philosophy. As a result, Raphael has extensive knowledge of removable prosthetics, particularly the Gerber technique. With great passion, he inspires his audience with his Gerber philosophy, in which the NFC+ Condyloform choices from Candulor are central.

We are therefore delighted to have Raphael as a guest lecturer within D-DEC, where he can share his passion during the course on the Gerber setup.
